Tour Itinerary as of September 23, 2008 Mosaic Tours

Day 1 Overnight flight to Prague. Early afternoon Arrive to your Providence/Boston/NY airport and check in for your overnight flight to Prague.

Day 2 Arrive Prague/City tour/Free time/Welcome dinner. Morning Arrive to Prague where you will meet your tour leader. Transfer to your hotel and check-in. Afternoon Visit to the Old Town of Prague where you’ll find lunch on your own before your tour. Old Town Square (Starometské námestí) is at the crossroads of 11th century trading routes. You’ll see the Gothic Town Hall and its medieval Astronomical Clock, St. Nicholas Church, the Czech- Gothic Church of Our Lady Before Tyn, and a statue of the Czech protestant reformer Jan Hus. Evening Dinner provided in a restaurant in the center of the city.

Day 3 Castle Hill & Charles Bridge Tour/Villa Bertramka/Concert. Morning Tour of Prague Castle (Hradcany) and the Castle Hill District.. Prague Royal Castle was founded in 880 AD and is spectacular with its Old Royal Palace, St.. George’s Basilica, and the neo-Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest and most royal of Prague’s churches. Continue down the Golden Lane where Franz Kafka once worked, to the Lesser Town (Mala Strana) to the 600-year-old Charles Bridge. The stone pedestrian bridge is 30 feet across and during the daytime it is lined with performers, vendors of handicrafts and painters, Afternoon Lunch independent. Visit Villa Bertramka where Mozart composed his opera Don Giovanni. The Villa is now a museum dedicated to Mozart and the Duseks the former owners and Mozart’s hosts. Evening Rehearsal and solo concert at St. Martin-in-the-Wall church. Dinner independent.

Day 4 Karlstejn Castle/Free time in Prague/Dinner
Morning Excursion to Karlstejn, a High Gothic castle constructed in 1348 by the Czech King and Roman Emporer Charles IV as a treasury for holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire. Afternooon Lunch independent with free time in Prague. Evening Dinner provided in a local restaurant.

Day 5 Visit Telc/Arrive Brno/City tour. Morning Depart for Brno by way the city of Telc, a UNESCO World Heritage city because of its wellpreserved castle and the most beautiful Renaissance market square in Central Europe. Lunch independent in Telc before your continue to Brno. Afternoon Arrive to Brno, the center of the province of Moravia, one of the historic lands of the Czech Crown. Check in at your hotel then tour the Old Town of Brno. Dinner independent.

Day 6 Moravian Karst/Boat ride/Brno free time/Concert//Dinner reception. Morning Depart Brno to the Moravian Karst – a famous nature reserve containing around 400 caves. You will explore one of the caves, traveling underground by boat on the river Punkva. Afternoon Return to Brno to prepare for your evening rehearsal and concert. Evening Concert at Brno University shared with an excellent Moravian choir. A dinner reception with your hosts will follow your concert.

Day 7 Free time/Transfer to Mikulov/City Tour/Wine cellar visit. Morning Free morning in Brno for shopping or independent sightseeing. Afternoon Depart for Mikulov, a small Czech town on the border with Austria. Mikulov is a center for local wine-making. Arrive and check in prior to your tour of the city. Lunch independent. Visit to a local wine cellar to try some fine Moravian wines. Evening Free time in Mikulov.

Day 8 Lednice & Valtice/Free time/Concert/Dinner reception Morning Depart Mikulov to visit the Lednice-Valtice Landscape Park. During the 18th and 19th centuries the House of Lichtenstein, the local lordship, transformed the area into a large, landscaped park with two centers – Lednice Castle & town and Valtice Castle and town. The region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with castles, manicured gardens, churches and hunting lodges. Afternoon Return to Mikulov. Evening Concert at Mikulov Castle shared with a Mikulov choir. A dinner reception with your hosts will follow your concert.

Day 9 Transfer to Vienna/City tour/Free time. Morning Depart for Vienna, about a 2 hour drive. Arrive and tour Vienna including a visit to Schonbrunn, the summer palace of the Hapsburg Kaisers. Your tour will include the Ringstrasse inner city road where you’ll see the Vienna State Opera, the Muzikverein - home of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Konzerthaus - home of the Vienna symphony. Afternoon Lunch on your own in the center of the city before you check in at your hotel. Free afternoon and evening in Vienna.

Day 10 Vienna Cemetary tour/Free time/Optional concerts. Morning Board buses and depart for the Vienna Cemetery where Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, Johann Strauss, Arnold Schoenberg and many others are buried. Afteroon Free time in Vienna with lunch and dinner independent. Evening Suggested options for tonight include a visit to Prater Amusement Park with Europe’s largest Ferris Wheel or attend one of the many classical concerts scheduled at the Musikverein, Vienna State Opera or some lighter fare at the Volksoper.

Day 11 Flight home. Morning Depart for Vienna international airport to check in for your flight home. Depart on flight to the USA. Afternoon Arrive to your Providence/Boston/NY airport.
