Research Summary:
I am interested in TB and HIV vaccine development. We use computer algorithms to identify T cell epitopes. We then have the T cell epitope peptides made, and test them using cells and cell lines from HIV-seropositive/TB infected patients. We are also investigating the nature of immune response to TB. The lab is full right now but there may be openings for interested students next year or in the Summer, 1997. Only seriously motivated, independent minded, meticulous students should apply. This is not for the student who thinks it's "cool" to work with HIV! There are risks involved that should not be taken lightly. Only a limited number of students can work in the Biohazard facility, so some projects may involve important but less biohazardous activities. Please make an appointment to see me if you are interested
