Dr Ehrlich's orthopedic residency was followed by a Pediatric Orthopedic and Research Fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Ehrlich was the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at MGH and associate Professor at Harvardbefore coming to Brown in 1990. He was the Chairman of the Research Committee for both the Academic Orthopaedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons from 1993-1999, and has twice been a permanent member of the Study Section on Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Diseases for the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Ehrlich has been on the Oral Examination Committee for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1993. He received the M.A. Ad Eundem award at Brown, the Excellence in Research Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Kappa Delta Award for the best orthopaedic research in the United States. For his contributions to Pediatric Orthopedics, he was awarded the Huene Award. Dr. Ehrlich has been President of the Orthopaedic Research Socitety and is currently President of the Academic Orthopaedic Society. He has authored more than 200 books, journal articles and abstracts. Some of Dr. Ehrlich's research interests include limb lengthening physiology, neuromuscular disorders in children and growth plate transplantation.
