Richard M. Greenwald, Ph.D.

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics, Brown University School of Medicine

Dr. Greenwald joined our staff in 1998 as an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedics. He received his PhD in Bioengineering from University of Utah in 1997. He is currently the US Director of Orthopedics/Sports/Rehabilitation for TUV Product Service and the Executive Director of the non-profit research laboratory National Institute for Sports Science and Safety. Dr. Greenwald has been actively involved in orthopedic research, testing and product development since 1987. Previously, he was Director of Research at Orthopedic Biomechanics Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a Journal reviewer for several well-known Journals including the Journal of Orthopedic Research and Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research. He currently has one patent registered with the Federal Government for a new surgical instrument, and has received various grants from the United States Olympic Committee, NOCSAE, and the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association. Dr. Greenwald’s current research interests include winter sports biomechanics and ski injury epidemiology, baseball ball and bat performance, and impact biomechanics.
