Hugh S. Keeping, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Brown University School of Medicine

Hugh Keeping has dual appointments in the Department of Surgery and in the Department of Orthopaedics as Associate Professor. He is also affiliated with the Cancer Center at Brown university. He received his B.Sc. in Biochemistry in 1975 from McGill University, his M.Sc. in 1977 and in 1980 received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Queen’s University. His post-doctoral training included a 2-year Mellon fellowship in reproductive biology at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh from 1983-1990 before joining the faculty at Brown in 1993. He is a molecular biologist with a primary interest in osteolytic bone disease, including rheumatoid arthritis, bone metastasis, and periodontal disease. His teaching responsibilities include graduate students, post-docs, and residents in the Departments of Surgery and Orthopaedics.
