Nicotine dependence: Stress and lipids

  Research Summary:

Research is in the areas of addictive behaviors, preventive cardiology, and biobehavioral mechanisms in cardiovascular diseases. Basic and applied research is ongoing in areas of smoking, alcohol abuse, with a focus on understanding mechanisms related to relapse and recovery. Behavioral cardiology research focuses on understanding the relationship between stress and lipids/lipoproteins; cardiovascular reactivity and hostility in relation to coronary artery disease; psychological coping style and risk for cardiovascular diseases.
