Notes: Preliminary licenses and Prologo in Spanish; text of the Doctrina in Spanish and Zapotec Nexitza in parallel columns. A translation of author’s Doctrina christiana, con una exposicion breve, first published Burgos, 1591. Title and imprint from Ugarte; date from the license on [par.3] 3 verso, dated May 1687. “Parecer de el M.R.P. Mtrô Fr. Nicolás de Andrade de el Orden de Predicadores de la Provincia de S. Hipolyto Martyr de Oaxaca” (p. [11-16]) mentions Father Ripalda as the author of the original work; Ugarte lists all editions under Father Pacheco de Silva and makes no mention of Father Ripalda as the author. JCB copy imperfect, wanting t.p. and final 5 leaves; insect damage with some loss of text. No complete copy is extant.
