Notes: Contains several brief lists of Nahuatl vocabulary, including numerals 1-20 and calendrical terms (some of which are animal names and other common nouns) for months, days, weeks, and years, with Italian equivalents in parallel column ( leaves 338 recto-342 verso). Vocabulary immediately preceded by “Le lettere di Mesico”, a paragraph discussing Nahuatl hieroglyphics and phonetics (leaves 337 verso-338 recto).
Published anonymously. Translation, by Lucio Mauro, of author’s Crónica de la Nueva España, first published as second part of author’s La istoria de las Indias, y conquista de Mexico, Saragossa: Agustin Millan, 1552. Italian translation first published Rome, 1556, as second part of author's La historia generale delle Indie occidentali.
Issued by Ziletti as the third volume of the Historie dell’Indie, with (v.1) Pedro de Cieza de León, Cronica del Peru, and (v.2) López de Gómara, Historia general de las Indias, of which this volume is the second part.
