Notes: Following a preface with general observations and examples (p. [i]-xvj), the “Essai de grammaire sur la langue des Galibis” (p. 1-24, 1st count) discusses the parts of speech with numerous examples, some taken from Pelleprat, Biet, and Boyer; includes numbers 1-40 (p.19-20, 1st count). A list of “Auteurs dont on a tiré les mots inserés [sic] dans ce Dictionnaire” (p. [2], 2nd count) includes the above-named sources plus Barrere, Labat, and unspecified “relations manuscrites”. The French-Galibi dictionary is divided into sections by parts of speech: nouns (p. [3]-38, 2nd count), verbs (p. 39-57), names of animals (p. 58-64), and names of plants (p. 65-72); the Galibi-French section consists of a single list (p. 73-126). Virtually all entries in both dictionaries cite page numbers in one or more of the sources listed on p. [2] (2nd count), with references also to Laet and “Biou” [?].

Compiled chiefly from the manuscripts of Father Pelleprat. Sources vary as to the authorship of this work. Sabin attributes the work to S[auvage], M. d[e] l[a]], but some attribute it to Simon Philabert de la Salle de l'Etang.
