Notes: Vol. 4, which relates to America, Canada and the Louisiana Territories, contains scattered phrases in Chiquito and other languages native to the Paraguay river area (p. 56, p. 97, p. 125, p. 135), as well as renderings in French and four North American Indian languages (Abnakise, Algonkine, Huronne, Illinoise) of the stanza beginning “ô Salutaris Hostia” from the “Hymne du Saint Sacrement” (p. 316-317).
