Notes: Consists of prayers and sacraments in Mohawk, with table of contents and most headings in English and Mohawk, some in one language only. Includes several instances of the Lord’s Prayer with minor variations (p. 7, 17, 26, 31, 41, 157, 174, 184-185); catechism (p. 50-60); Biblical texts including Psalms 1, 15, 32 (p. 95-97) and 23, 67, 100, 103, 117, 134 (p. 196-201); Genesis 1-3 and Matthew 1, 2, 5 (p. 98-117); and numerous brief Biblical excerpts arranged under thematic headings (p. 118-157).

Order of text differs from New York, 1715 edition: prayers corresponding to p. 88-107, 5th count, appearing close to end of 1715 edition, here appear in middle of volume (p. 69-94), before first set of Psalms; p. 157-195 in this edition consist of additional text not included in 1715 edition. Title page: “Collected, and translated into the Mohawk language under the direction of the late Rev. Mr. William Andrews, the late Rev. Dr. Henry Barclay, and the Rev. Mr. John Oglivie, formerly missionaries from the venerable Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, to the Mohawk Indians”.

Printing begun by William Weyman and continued after his death by Hugh Gaine (cf. Evans). JCB copy has “Printed by order of Sir W. Johnson” in manuscript after statement of responsibility on title page; JCB copy gift of Sir William Johnson, general, 1773, to Lewis Vincent, Dartmouth College.
