Notes: Consists of 3 parts--grammar, dictionary, and religious texts--with continuous register but distinct pagination. Grammatical explanations in Spanish with Tarascan [Purepecha / Michoacana] examples and focused vocabulary lists including kinship terms (p. 110-119, 3rd count) and numerical terms (p. 120-125, 3rd count) are followed by a table of contents (p. 172-174, 3rd count). “Dictionario breve y compendioso en la le[n]gua de Michuacan. Hecho por el muy R.P. fray Iuan Baptista de Lagunas Minorita” (p. 1-190, 4th count) lists Tarascan terms followed by Spanish equivalents, glosses and notes on usage and related words; the following table of contents (p. [1r-6r]) refers to both the Arte and Dictionario sections. Concluding the volume is a series of sacramental and devotional texts including communion, articles of faith, credo, etc., primarily in Tarascan with brief bilingual sections.
