Notes: Gazetteer includes information about indigenous peoples and gives names of peoples, places, names of geographical features such as rivers and mountains, and names of plants and animals in their various indigenous languages. A list of vocabulary appears in English and its Knisteneaux [i.e. Cree] translation in the entry for "Rocky Mountains" in v. 4, p. 342-345; this vocabulary list does appear in the original edition printed in Madrid from 1786-1789. "General appendix to Thompson's Alcedo, or Geographical and historical dictionary of America and the West Indies; forming a vocabulary of provincial and Spanish terms, and a compendious natural history of that hemisphere": v. 5, p. [1]-105, has divisional title page. Text printed in two parallel columns. Translation, by George Alexander Thompson, of the author's: Diccionario geográfico-historico de las Indias Occidentales o América, first printed in Madrid, 1786-1789. Supplemented by: "Atlas to Thompson's Alcedo; or, Dictionary of America & West Indies; collated with all the most recent authorities, and composed chiefly from scarce and original documents, for that work, by A.
