Notes: "A glossary of those Tupi words, which occur in the preceding pages" (p. [629]-639) lists approximately 500 words in Tupi with English equivalents for most and a third column labeled “Composition” analyzing numerous words into their composite parts. The introduction to the glossary (p. [629]) notes “ that the usual mode of spelling the word has been adopted, though not always correct.” Includes notations indicating words that are “derived from, or corrupted by a mixture with some other language, viz.... the Aimores... the Guaranis... the Portuguese... the Negroes.”
