It has been suggested that Thomas Oniatariio [i.e. "Handsome Lake" in the Mohawk language], whose name appears on p. [1], 1st count, was responsible for the creation of the Mohawk text from the Latin. Manuscript antiphonary in the Mohawk language used by the choir of the Catholic Church on the Indian reservation at Oka, in the seigneurie of Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes on the Ottawa river, near Montréal in Quebec Province; p. 267, and 270-299, 2nd and 3rd counts, contain hymns with music. Text primarily in the Mohawk language, but also includes section headings in Latin and French. John Carter Brown Library copy imperfect: some leaves have been torn and have been repaired, though there is some loss ot text; p. 163-166 are completely detached; p. 276-279 are semi-detached.
