Notes: Section entitled “Vande Mahakuase Indianen, in Nieuw-Nederlandt” contains specimens of Mohawk language with Dutch translation (p. 47-48). Contains Indian place and tribal names passim, with a list of “diversche Natien van Wilden”: “Sauwanoos, Sanhicans, Minquaas, Cepitanasses, Gacheos, Sennecaas, Canomakers, Naratekons, Konekotays, Matanackouses, Armeomecks” (p. 23).
“A reprint of some parts of the Vertoogh [van Nieu-Neder-Land, 1650] and of the second edition of de Laet [Beschrijvinghe van West-Inden, 1630]. To these have been added the treatise on the Mohawks, Een kort onwerp vande Mahakvase Indianen, t’Alckmaer, [1644?] by Johan Megapolensis, jr. ... and an engraving the earliest representation of ‘Fort New Amsterdam at the Manhatans’” - Church.
