Notes: Translation, by Sara Coleridge, of the author's Historia de Abiponibus equestri, bellicosaque Paraquariae natione locupletata copiosis barbararum gentium, urbium, fluminum, ferarum, amphibiorum, insectorum, serpentium praecipuorum, piscium, avium, arborum, plantarum, aliarumque eiusdem provinciae, proprietatum observationibus, first printed Vienna, 1784. This edition lacks the plates present in the Latin original. "Of the language of the Abipones", v. 2, chapter XVI is a discussion of the Abipon language, its grammar, and some short glossaries of vocabulary in Abipon and English on p. 157-182. "Concerning other peculiarities of the Abiponian tongue", v. 2, chapter XVII is a discussion of the grammar and inflection of the Abipon language on p. 183-209; also includes references to the Guaraní language. "Concerning the arms of the Abipones, and their battle-array in fighting with other savages", v. 2, chapter XLI includes a small section on indigenous battle cries on p. 424-427.
