Notes: "Einige Bemerkungen über die Wilden an der Nordwest-Küste von Amerika", chapter IV, p. 66-136, contains ethnographic material on the indigenous peoples in Alaska and northern California. This chapter includes martial phrases in unidentified indigenous languages translated into German on p. 91; a comparative glossary of words in German translated into Atnaisch [the Ahtena Eskimos], Ugalenzisch, and Koloschisch [the Tlingit Eskimos] languages on p. 99; "Wörter der Inkülüchlüaten (am Flusse Chulitna)", a short glossary on p. 119-120; and a comparative glossary of words in German translated into the language as spoken by the Eskimos der Beringstrasse, Kadjacker, Eskimos von Igloolik, and Unalaschker [the Unalaska Island Eskimos] on p. 123.

"Sprachproben", chapter IX, p. 226-274, contains sizeable comparative glossaries of various indigenous peoples of Alaska and northern California. This chapter includes: "Wörter aus zwei Sprachen Neu-Kaliforniens von Kostromitonow", a comparative glossary of words and numerals in German, Russian [in Cyrillic type], and the indigenous peoples called Severnow [the Chwachamuja Eskimos] and Bodegisch [the Olamentke Eskimos] [the glossary of words in Cyrillic, Severow and Bodegisch is given in Cyrillic] on p. 233-254; "Kuskokwimische Wörtersammlung", a comparative glossary of words and numerals in German, Russian [in Cyrillic type] and the indigenous people called Kuskokwimische [the Yupik Eskimos] [also given in Cyrillic type] on p. 259-270; and "Koloschische Wörtersammlung", a glossary words in German, Russian [in Cyrillic type] and the indigenous people called Koloschische [the Tlingit Eskimos] [also given in Cyrillic] on p. [271]-274.

"Vergleichende Wörter-Sammlung aus 8 Sprachen der Bewohner von Nordwest-Amerika", folded table bound to face p. 258, is a table in the form of a comparative glossary of 97 words in German, Russian [in Cyrillic type], Aleuten auf den Fuchs-Inseln [the Aleut Eskimos], Kadjacker, Tschugatschen [the Chugach Eskimos], Ugalenzen, Kenaier [the Eskimos of the Kenai Peninsula], Atnaer am Kupferflus [the Ahtena Eskimos], Koltschanen am Kupferflusse, and Koloschen am Sitcha [the Tlingit Eskimos]. Caption title of table and each column heading is printed in German and Russian [in Cyrillic type]. The indigenous language translations appear in Cyrillic. Translated from Georg Engelhardt's German translation of the then unpublished Russian manuscript.
