Notes: Ms. codex. Title supplied by cataloguer. Handwriting attributed to Angel Serra by Nicolás León, after he acquired the manuscript from Serra's family. Manuscript is probably composed in late 17th century, although Serra compiled a work entitled "Manual de administrar los santos sacramentos à los españoles, y naturales de esta provincia de Michuacan", first printed in Mexico City in 1697. According to the Diccionario Porrúa, Franciscan Father Angel Serra was a native of Michoacán and based in the province of de San Pedro y San Pablo, parish of Charapan where he served as the parish priest in Querétaro. Fragmentary Spanish-Tarascan dictionary with Spanish words on the left and Tarascan equivalents to the right. Also included in this manuscript are portions of a grammar of the Tarascan language and doctrinal writings in that language. John Carter Brown Library copy imperfect: many leaves are faded and stained and ragged on the foredge of the text block; some leaves are damaged and torn with some loss of text; some leaves may be misbound in the text and numberings in pencil on upper right corners do not seem to be contemporary. John Carter Brown Library copy bound in worn 18th or 19th century limp calf wrapper; housed in brown cloth slipcase measuring 18 cm. tall.
