Notes: Includes various specimens of indigenous language vocabularies: Book 2, chapters XIII and XVII include a small list of vocabulary on p. 70 and p. 74, 2nd counts, in the Huron language as spoken in Hochelaga, which was the indigenous name for Montréal; and Book 5, chapter IX gives a vocabulary of words and glyphs in Nahuatl on p. 186-187. First printed in Leiden, 1625 under title: Nieuwe wereldt ofte Beschrijvinghe van West-Indien. Title page is fully engraved and framed within ornamental border. Some copies have double maps and some have folded maps. In many copies there is a mix of Latin and Dutch titles in the cartouches of the maps. Some copies also contain "Maiores minoresqve insvlae. Hispaniola, Cvba Lucaiae et Caribes" in place of "De groote ende kleyne eylanden van West-Indien" as the title of the second map. Includes index.
