Notes: The author gives an account of Nicolas Durand de Villegagnon's colony in Brazil and the Tupi Indians who inhabited the country. "Colloque de l'entree ou arriuee en la terre du Bresil, entre les gens du pays nommez Tououpinambaoults, & Toupinenkins en langage sauuage & François", p. 410-433, contains numerous phrases in the Tupi language translated into the French language, a discussion of grammar with examples, and a comparative glossary of words in Tupi and French. There are also numerous words and phrases in the Tupi language scattered throughout the text. Includes musical notations with words in the Tupi language on p. 191, 315, and 322-323. First printed La Rochelle, 1578. Edition statement appears before statement of responsibility on title page. Actuality the seventh French edition.
