Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, teaching institutions of The Warren Alpert Medical School, seek applications for the position of Director of the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and provides overall leadership, as well as administrative and strategic direction for the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The appointment of the next Director extends a period of investment in oncology services and investigation with planned immediate recruitment of several additional faculty members. The shared goal of the university and the hospitals is for the Division to achieve prominence among the mid-sized academic programs in hematology/oncology for clinical excellence and clinical innovation, as well as for discovery science.

The successful candidate must have a career history of academic accomplishment appropriate for appointment to the full-time faculty as Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine at Brown University. Minimum requirements include: M.D. degree, completion of a fellowship in hematology/oncology or oncology, board certification, demonstrated commitment to teaching and a national/international reputation for scholarship. Leadership experience at a major medical institution is expected. Preference will be accorded to candidates who have demonstrated research excellence and a commitment to supporting clinical program development linked to basic and clinical research.
