The Division of General Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital invites applications for the position of Director of Research at the level of Associate or Full Professor. Rhode Island Hospital is the primary teaching hospital of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University .The Division of General Internal Medicine fosters academic excellence, provides the majority of teaching for residents and medical students at the Brown Alpert Medical School’s largest teaching hospital and maintains an academic environment strongly supporting scholarship and research endeavors.
The applicant is expected to have an independently funded research program, be responsible for the growth and oversight of Divisional research activities, and supervise the newly created General Internal Medicine Fellowship. Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in health system science.
The applicant must possess an MD and have completed a General Internal Medicine fellowship with a history of academic productivity. Experience with data analysis, planning, writing and implementing grant proposals with a track record of independent funding are required. The successful candidate must have a national/international reputation in his/her field and be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level in accordance with Brown University academic policies.
