The Division Director reports to the Chair/Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Administration and Teaching: 25%
Oversees the physician faculty and research support staff,provides mentorship to junior faculty members involved in women’s health research,leads a division that is committed to research and teaching and grow the division. Oversees the planning and implementation of research related activities within the department of Ob/Gyn.
Serves on appropriate hospital,departmental, and university committees. Participates in clinical and didactic teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students. Participates regularly in educational conferences for residents and medical students.Participates in the periodic evaluation of the clinical and research experience the residents. Assists in the organization and evaluation of undergraduates and medical students who seek research experience.
Patient Care: 25%
Provides patient care in the outpatient department, the urgent care unit, or on selected inpatient service when appropriate. Supervises residents and medical students in clinical care settings. Expectation is a minimum of 25% clinical, however clinical effort will be based on time not assigned by research funding support and grant related effort. This percentage may be adjusted by the Chair/Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology as needed.
Up to 50% protected time for research based on external funding; this percentage may be adjusted by the Chair/Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology based upon funding availability. Conducts independent research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Collaborates with other faculty in planning and conducting research when feasible and appropriate. Participates in research-related educational activities including resident research, resident research curriculum, journal club, fellow research course, etc.
