The Department of Medicine is seeking a Hematologist Oncologist to join the Division of Hematology Oncology at Rhode Island Hospital. The Department is looking for an individual who has shown excellence in patient care and teaching and has made a commitment to scholarly participation. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in all activities of the Division of Hematology Oncology in the Department of Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, which includes teaching medical students, residents and fellows. The successful individual will serve as a preceptor in the core clerkship in hematology oncology and develop a clinical elective for students and residents. He or she will be expected to establish clinical research programs in the area of hemostasis and thrombosis at Rhode Island Hospital. The selected candidate will also be expected to participate on a national level in cooperative group research and to establish an independent investigative program focusing on hemostasis and thrombosis. It is anticipated that approximately 30 to 35 percent of the candidates time will be devoted to research in hemostasis and thrombosis. Most of the individuals time will be split between outpatient clinical activities and inpatient coverage of the inpatient hematology oncology unit and consultation service.
Board eligibility or certification in hematology oncology with a focus on blood coagulation clinical problems, strong background in epidemiology and biostatistics, excellence in patient care and teaching, and a strong commitment to scholarly participation in clinical hematology oncology programs. The individual must qualify for a full time faculty appointment at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
