Joseph E. Edelman is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Portfolio Manager of Perceptive Advisors, LLC, a hedge fund focused on investment opportunities in health care with an emphasis on biotechnology.  Prior to founding Perceptive Advisors in 1999, he was the Senior Analyst at Aries Fund, a Paramount Capital Asset Management biotechnology hedge fund.  Previously, he was the Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Prudential Securities.  He began his career as a Biotech Analyst at the research firm Labe, Simpson & Co.  Mr. Edelman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from New York University.
