Important Deadlines

  Deadline date Forms required
Early Decision 11/1/18 CSS/PROFILE
Regular Decision 2/1/19 CSS/PROFILE

Financial aid information required:

CSS/PROFILE

  • School code 3189
  • Required for institutional need-based aid
  • Must be submitted by deadline noted above
  • Required from each parent when they are divorced or separated
  • Brown University provides no payment fee waivers for the CSS/PROFILE application.  We rely on the College Board to determine who automatically qualifies for a waiver during the electronic application submission process.  You may find when you complete the payment process for the PROFILE that your fees are automatically waived.
  • Our office does not accept the ISFAA form or a paper copy of the CSS Profile in lieu of the electronic CSS Profile. Because we use the CSS PROFILE to consider international applicants for any financial aid resources at Brown University, it is important that you complete this form if you wish to be considered for any aid.
  • Applicants from the countries of Iran and North Korea cannot use the CSS/PROFILE.  Please email us at [email protected] for an alternative solution.   Please be sure to indicate in your email if your parents are divorced, separated, or never married.

College Board's Institutional Documents Service (IDOC)

  • The Office of Financial Aid uses the College Board’s IDOC service to electronically collect tax and other financial documents from families.
  • Brown does not require an IDOC packet from every family - only upon request.
  • Once you have filed your CSS/PROFILE, you may receive an email communication from the College Board providing you with instructions on how to submit any additional requirements through IDOC.  Possible additional requirements through IDOC may include:
    • 2017 income tax return for custodial parent(s) (or non-tax filer statement)
    • 2017  income tax return for student (or non-tax filer statement)
    • 2017  income tax return for noncustodial parent, if applicable (or non-tax filer statement)
    • If a tax return is not filed in your country, submit a statement from parents' employers documenting 2016 annual earnings.
  • If you do not receive a request from IDOC, the Office of Financial Aid has enough information to provide an estimated financial aid award at the time of admission
  •
