Ecuador before Ecuador: Indigenous & Early Amazonian History in the JCB's Collection

The John Carter Brown Library presents its "Ecuador before Ecuador: Indigenous and Early Amazonian History in the JCB's Collection," a mini-exhibit as part of its First Readings program. Beginning September 29, the library will display a variety of materials from the Ecuadorian Andes, including 17th-century indigenous grammars, engravings, and historic maps of the region. On October 2, filmmakers Larel Spellman Smith and Francine Strickwerda and film protagonists David Poritz and Hugo Lucitante will discuss early Amazonian history and the University's resources for studying the indigenous past.
