Brazil Initiative invites Brown doctoral students to submit proposals for travel grants to support research in Brazil

The opportunity is open to all Brown University doctoral students. Grantees are expected to submit a short (1-2 page) activity report at the end of the grant period. 

The maximum award amount is $2,000. Funds may be used for research-related expenses in Brazil, including travel. 

Selection Criteria
A selection committee comprised of core faculty members of the Brazil Initiative will review applications. The selection will be based on the excellence of the application, with special consideration to graduate students who have not previously received a grant from the fund. Up to ten awards will be made.

Please submit the following as a single document in PDF format:

  1. Cover sheet with name, title, department address, box number, e-mail address and telephone number
  2. A brief (2-3 page) proposal describing the proposed project and expected outcomes of the research.  A detailed budget and timeline should be included 
  3. Curriculum Vitae

Submission Deadline
Applications are due by April 15, 2016All funding decisions will be made by the Brazil Initiative selection committee. Applicants will be notified of the selection committee’s decisions by April 30, 2016.  Funds will be available shortly thereafter.
