CUHK Teaching and Research Opportunities

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) is pleased to announce, on behalf of our partner institution The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), a number of teaching and research opportunities available to Brown faculty and doctoral students. 


Teaching and Research Opportunity for Brown faculty:

Bilateral Teaching Exchange Program
The program aims to promote academic exchange between CUHK and overseas partner institutions and enhance faculty’s international perspective and understanding of Chinese culture. The program offers an opportunity for visiting professors to teach at least one course and undertake research while at CUHK. In return, the exchange partners at CUHK will undertake at least one teaching course and conduct research at Brown for one term.

CUHK will provide a monthly allowance of HK$20,000 for up to five months for each visiting faculty to cover the airfare and accommodation during the exchange period.

Inbound Research Mobility Opportunity
The programme supports visiting scholars to undertake short-term research visits to CUHK for up to two weeks. The visiting Brown faculty members may participate in academic activities, including but not limited to, developing research collaborations with CUHK faculty members, delivering seminars, and engaging in academic exchanges and meetings with faculty members and students of CUHK. The period of visit to CUHK should take place anytime between August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017

Funding: Accommodation on or near campus will be provided by CUHK for up to 13 nights.

Research Opportunities for Brown doctoral students:

Global Scholarship Program for Research Excellence
The program aims to promote research exchange between CUHK and overseas partner institutions through student mobility. The program offers an opportunity for Brown doctoral students to conduct short-term research at CUHK. The research visit shall last for at least one month and be completed between September 1, 2016 and August 31, 2017. The recipients of the Global Scholarship Program for Research will receive free on-campus housing at CUHK for the duration of their visit.
