Excellence Awards & BEAR Day 
BEAR Day is February 19!
The Excellence Awards recognize staff members for their contributions in making Brown University a better place to work. Excellence Award winners are chosen by a selection committee representing the diverse Brown community and are announced in early December.

BEAR Day is held annually in February to celebrate years of service and performance excellence. President Paxson recognizes staff who have reached service milestones from 5 through 50 years of service; she also presents Excellence Awards to staff members in the categories of Citizenship, Diversity & Inclusion, Efficiency, Innovation, Leadership, Rising Star, and Service.

BROWN GIVES
BROWN GIVES is an annual charities drive supporting the United Way of Rhode Island. The United Way uses its Community Impact Fund to solve Rhode Island’s most pressing issues of improving education, enhancing job skills, creating affordable housing, and connecting people to needed services.
Staff Development Day 
On Staff Development Day, Brown staff invest in their personal and professional growth, increase their knowledge about Brown University, and gain a better understanding of faculty research. Staff Development Day was honored in 2015 with a CASE District 1 award in the Special Events category.
