University Human Resources is pleased to announce revisions to its annual performance development program for staff - revisions that are designed to drive more frequent and effective conversations between managers and their direct reports. In the coming weeks and months, there will be presentations, screencasts, and other resources for all staff on using the new process.

Highlights

  • Brown is moving from a 5-point scale to the 3-point scale of exceptional, effective, and requires improvement. The new effective rating covers a broad range of performance and may reflect high and low variations within the overall performance. This will likely require comments and drive conversations between managers and direct reports.
     
  • Competencies have changed to better reflect Brown's values and will also drive more meaningful performance conversations between managers and direct reports. Staff will more clearly see where their strengths and weaknesses lie as a result of these new competencies.
     
  • Standardized, streamlined forms will be delivered in Workday – forms that all staff will find easier to complete. Some forms will be mandatory and will be directly delivered to Workday Inboxes; others will be optional.
