The Advisory Council on Diversity considers long-term policy and planning issues, strategic directions, and efficacy of implementation concerning issues of diversity. The Council reviews programs and practices that promote diversity, inclusion, and fair treatment of all members of the community.

The Advisory Council on Diversity consists of ex-officio members from other relevant councils, and no fewer than fifteen other members. Members are appointed by the President for staggered terms of three years each, beginning July 1 and ending June 30. The Chair is designated biennially by the President. 

The Advisory Council on Diversity shall be staffed by the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity.
