Formalized in 1964, the Brown University – Tougaloo College Partnership (BTP) is designed to enrich both campuses through student and faculty academic and cultural exchanges, collaborative research ventures, and administrative level engagements.

On each campus, Advisory Boards and Committees govern and oversee all activities. These groups meet regularly to design projects and programs that reflect the needs of each institution and of society at large. On Brown's campus, the Advisory Council on Relations with Tougaloo College oversees the relationship between the University and Tougaloo College.

To date, more than 500 students and faculty have participated in BTP programs and projects.
