Overseeing Brown's compliance with University policies and laws pertaining to discrimination and harassment (the federal Title VI and Title IX laws) and employment discrimination (the Title VII law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex, race, national origin and religion) is one of the core responsibilities of the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity.

Discrimination and unlawful harassment cannot be tolerated in a community committed to maintaining a strong educational, working and living environment. Therefore the University has created guidelines that describe the community standards of conduct, and guidelines and procedures for the resolution of grievances/complaints alleging violation of its discrimination and harassment policies.

Our Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy and the Discrimination and Harassment Complaint Resolution SOP are intended to provide a fair, prompt, and reliable mechanism for determining whether Brown University’s discrimination and harassment policy has been violated and, if so, to provide appropriate resolution.

Please see the Nondiscrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy for more information.
