Brown’s relationship with Zhejiang University (ZJU) dates from 2006. It is nurtured by reciprocal visits made by Brown President Ruth Simmons and ZJU President Wei Yang (Brown Ph.D. 1985), as well as visits by senior administrators, faculty delegations, and students.
- Collaborative programs agreement, signed in 2007, provides for graduate student exchange and research collaborations between the two universities. Each year, students from ZJU enroll in Bioengineering and other graduate programs at Brown.
- Student and faculty exchange agreement was initiated between ZJU and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2007, and then renewed in 2010. Faculty, medical students and PLME undergraduates participate in the exchange.
- Students may take part in a 4 to 6-week Traditional Chinese Medicine program. The students from Brown may also participate in any clinical elective rotations.
- Funding has generously been made available by the Pang Family Endowment which is utilized to support travel, housing and board for six ZJU medical students to come to Brown for two months each, and for Brown PLME/Medical students going to Zhejiang.
