Dear Members of the Brown Community,

I am writing to share exciting news that Brown has received a combined gift of $44 million to support the growth and expansion of the School of Engineering. These generous gifts come from venture capitalist and Fellow of the Brown Corporation Theresia Gouw '90; Managing Director of Silver Lake and Trustee Charles H. Giancarlo '79 and Dianne G. Giancarlo; and additional anonymous donors. I am grateful for the deep commitment and support of these donors, and for their recognition of Brown's School of Engineering as a leader in innovative education and exceptional research.

The combined gift of $44 million toward the overall goal of $160 million enables the University to move forward with plans to improve and expand facilities and support the growth of the School of Engineering. As part of our current Strategic Planning process, we engaged consultants to help assess both the School's and the University's programmatic and space needs. Sasaki Associates developed an interactive website with survey results from data Brown community members provided on their use of the campus. This information will help guide the University's campus planning efforts in general, and for the School of Engineering.

As we look toward the future of engineering at Brown, we are especially appreciative of the generosity of these donors for this inspiring step forward.
