The Division of Campus Life is one of the largest and most diverse divisions of the University, and provides a wide range of support for students, especially resources outside of the classroom, so that they can thrive intellectually and personally.  Much of the co-curricular community building and developmental skill building and mentoring is fostered by the division.

Communications

Office of University Communications (OUC)

The OUC has staff in the areas of news, media relations, marketing and social media who are vigilant and actively engaged in issues of strategic messaging, reputational risk management and constituent-based communications. The office supports the administration, academic and administrative units, and also individual faculty, staff and students seeking guidance and/or communications tools to tell their “story.” OUC staff closely tracks the news, information and motivations of external outlets to be able to develop strategies in service to the Brown community. The staff also maintains close relationships with colleagues in peer institutions, education associations and other networks to be nimble and proactive on behalf of the University.

Computing and Information Services (CIS)

CIS provides service and advice related to all technology related questions. This includes secure email communication using encryption, advice on steps to take while traveling internationally with regard to technology, and help with data storage and data mining. We can also provide general cybersecurity guidance.

Diversity & Inclusion

Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) 
Senior Administrator: Shontay Delalue, Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity
OIED serves as a resource and support for the Brown Community in promoting and sustaining more inclusive and diverse learning and working environments at all levels for faculty, students and staff. OIED supports Brown’s goals related to equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, and oversees compliance with University policies and procedures and with federal, state and local laws related to discrimination and harassment (Title VI), sexual and gender-based harassment and violence (Title IX), equal employment opportunity and affirmative action (EEO/AA), and disabilities resources and accommodations (ADA).  OIED can provide guidance and answer questions pertaining to these regulations and can assist with trainings.

Global Engagement

Office of Global Engagement

Provide leadership and insight into the strategic initiatives relative to internationalization; Manage external relations with institutional partners to advance research and education; provide support for all international faculty, students, staff, and visitors on campus and serve as a first point of contact on non-visa related matters; develop and promote community programming to advance inclusion for international constituents on campus.

Government and Community Relations

Senior Administrator: Russell Carey, Executive Vice President for Planning and Policy
Office provides strategic advice and counsel to staff, faculty and students on the full range of relations with the federal, state and city governments. Assists with political, legislative and policy questions (non legal) in the following areas: visa/immigration, budget/research funding, taxation/endowments, Title IX, financial aid, labor and employment, health care, education, regulatory affairs, among others. On the state and city level the office can assist with political, legislative and policy questions (non legal) in the following areas: budget and tax, economic development, transportation, education, public safety, labor and employment, health care and regulatory affairs, among others.

Research

Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR)

​OVPR and its partners across the university will continue and expand efforts to help faculty diversify and increase their external research funding. Services include: introducing faculty to new funding agencies; building interdisciplinary research teams; grant writing training and support specifically for early career faculty; large proposal preparation support for all faculty; internal research funds; joint support with Foundation Relations for foundation proposals and networking; and support for corporate relations.
