The Brown University Department of Public Safety is informing the campus community of a robbery that occurred on January, 20, 2017.
On Friday, 1/20/2017, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was made aware of a robbery involving a firearm. A RISD student reported that while walking on Benefit Street near the intersection of Meeting Street, at approximately 6:00 p.m., he was robbed by three males, one of whom brandished a silver firearm. The suspects demanded the student’s backpack. The student complied and was not injured. The suspects fled the area on foot, possibly towards downtown Providence.
Suspect 1: Described as 5’7”, approximately 20-25 years of age, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, with a dark leather jacket.
Suspect 2: Described as 5’7”, approximately 20-25 years of age, heavy set, with frizzy hair, wearing a red ball cap.
Suspect 3: Described as 5’7”, approximately 20-25 years of age, and heavy set.
