The Brown University Department of Public Safety is informing the campus community of a robbery which occurred on October 21, 2016.


On 10/21/16 at approximately 2:45 P.M., a Brown University student was walking near 172 Meeting Street and had his cellphone grabbed out of his hand by a male perpetrator. The student followed the suspect and was then approached by another male who displayed a knife and told the student to stop. The two suspects then left the area on foot north on Brown Street. A short time afterward, members of the Providence Police apprehended a suspect, who was positively identified by the victim as one of the suspects. The second suspect is still at large. A similar incident involving a member of the Brown Community, in which her cell phone was grabbed out of her hand at the corner of Lloyd Avenue and Thayer Street, is under investigation by the Providence Police Department.
