On Friday, August 26, 2016, staff from all over the university crowded into the Faculty Club to dive into deep discussion on the First Readings selection, "My Beloved World", a memoir by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Over 100 staff participated in the Brown Staff Summer Reading Program, a pilot program sponsored through the Office of the Provost and President's Staff Advisory Council (SAC). SAC met with President Paxson on July 26th and presented her with a report of SAC's initiatives so far in 2016, as well as discussed SAC will be working on in the coming months. Among the topics of discussion were the Diversity & Inclusion related talks, outreach efforts including BrowniePoints and communciations through web and social media, volunteer opportunities for staff to give back to the community, networking and social events, and the recent SAC staff survey.
