Volunteer Opportunity! Amos House

Amos House is a leading social service agency in Rhode Island, managing the largest soup kitchen in the state, providing social services to over 15,000 people a year and housing nearly 165 men, women and children a night. 

We need 5 volunteers on November 29, 2014. The volunteer shift is 9am to 1pm. Tasks may consist of helping to prep and serve meals, and assisting with cleanup. Dress comfortably, as volunteers may be standing for a period of time.

SAC welcomes Augustine Reisenauer

SAC welcomes Augustine Reisenauer, Interim Catholic Chaplaincy Associate for the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life. Augustine is a Dominican priest of the Order of Preachers in the Province of St. Joseph. He has a graduate theology degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and graduate Theology degrees from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. Ordained to the priesthood in 2012, he also serves as an adjunct professor of theology at Providence College.

This journey, led by Gary Martins (Facilities Management), will start at 12:30 pm at the John Carter Brown Library. You’ll also visit the Maddock Alumni Center and the Ann Mary Brown Memorial Library before the tour concludes at 1:30 pm.

New Associate University Chaplain for the Muslim Community

A recent addition to the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life, Adrian Wood-Smith has been appointed Associate University Chaplain for the Muslim Community at Brown. Prior to this position, he served as the Coordinator of the Convert Continuum of Care at Ta'leef Collective, an organization in the San Francisco Bay area that works to facilitate a healthy understanding and embrace of Islam and train community care providers who can tend to the religious and social challenges facing American Muslims.
