The Jonathan M. Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship is looking to hire 1-2 Program Coordinators for the center. We started the center just this September and are kicking off with a handful of events, as well as developing a strategic plan. This student will be thrown into several different scenarios in order to help with program and event implementation. Some examples are: Planning and coordination of center events (Dec. 5 Conference on Diversity and Disadvantage in Entrepreneurship, Arts & Entrepreneurship workshop, documentary screening); Help manage and create a formal mentoring system/database; Updating center website (we are in the process of creating it and these students would be a central part in the planning); Day to day operations; postering, mail, misc tasks; Assigned special projects as needed.

The Science Center is interested in hiring students to use the latest multi-media techniques to communicate science concepts and discoveries that make science at Brown so exciting, surprising, and engaging to scientists as well as non-scientists at all levels. We hope to engage viewers using alternative media such as animation, artistic renderings, audio and video creations, cartoons, storytelling, etc., using computer graphics, podcasts, iTunes, radio, TV, and other formats to engage a broad audience in those aspects of science that we are all entitled to understand and appreciate. Brown Science Center Animators will work closely with the Science Center staff to design and develop series of science features using different media platforms. Group Tutors: Introductory Statistics for Social Research SOC 1100

To further assist students, the Dean of the College Office will be offering limited academic support in the form of group tutoring. We are currently looking for undergraduate sophomores and juniors in the following disciplines only, who thoroughly know the introductory and intermediate courses in their concentration and feel comfortable answering a wide range of questions, likely without having time to prepare ahead of time. DISCIPLINES NEEDED: SOC 1100 Group Tutors will be responsible for facilitating two hour study sessions of a small group of 6-8 students in a specific course. Group tutors are expected to meet with their group weekly to review important or difficult topics covered in that week, engage students in understanding course objectives, and model the thinking processes needed in the course. There is also a need to have tutors ready to assist students on an individual basis, so this job is looking for student flexibility. The Graphic Designer primarily handles the graphic design in the Brown Center for Students of Color. The GD’s main responsibilities will be designing promotional materials for the programs in the BCSC, which are primarily the MPC Program, the Heritage Series Program, and the Social Justice Peer Education Program. This position will work closely with the other BCSC student staffers and programmers to assist in promotional needs.
