BWell Health Promotion is thrilled to announce that Takyah Smith has joined our team as the new Health Promotion Specialist. Takyah’s work with BWell will focus on social wellbeing in an effort to create a campus environment that actively encourages and supports all students to learn and grow academically and socially. Through community and individual health interventions she will work towards the goals of increasing well-being, building resiliency, reducing high risk alcohol and other drug use and encouraging pro-health behaviors.
Takyah most recently served as the Senior Health Educator at the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County counteracting the tobacco industry marketing tactics towards youth and young adults in the retail environment. In her past positions she has focused on marginalized populations, community health education and outreach, health policies, behavioral health, and maternal and child health. Takyah received her BS in Health Sciences Pre-Clinical and Psychology from the University of Central Florida and holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida.
BWell will soon be extending invitations for opportunities to meet Takyah and welcome her to Brown. Please reach out to her directly at [email protected] to say hello.
