We are pleased to announce Meredith Scarlata Dawson has been appointed to the newly created position of Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Division of Campus Life.
Meredith has 15 years of experience in higher education and joins us after providing financial leadership to our colleagues in the Department of Athletics and Physical Education as the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Finance. During her tenure in Athletics, Meredith was the official NCAA designated diversity officer for the department. Meredith is currently a member of the university’s Diversity and Inclusion Oversight Board and she will continue to serve in that role.
Prior to Brown, Meredith worked at the University of Miami (FL) and the University of Hartford. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, she earned a B.S. in mathematics and statistics and a M.A. in Education. Meredith is currently pursuing a PhD in Learning, Leadership and Education Policy and her research interests have included communities of practice and gender stereotype threat.
In her new role, Meredith will provide financial leadership and strategic planning to the 18 departments and centers in our division and will oversee the centralized financial staff in the office of the Vice President for Campus Life. She will be responsible for managing the division’s internal financial processes in tandem with the University's budgeting, forecasting, and year-end processes and for ensuring the division is optimally utilizing the university’s financial system to maximize transparency for analysis, planning and financial reporting.
I would like to thank Tim Fater, Assistant Vice President for Financial Strategy and Planning, for his partnership on this search. Please join us in welcoming Meredith when she begins her new position on May 24th.
