About the Faculty
The Department of Africana Studies at Brown has one of the leading faculties in the field. Members of the faculty have received many prestigious honors and awards such as the Gish Award, the Guggenheim Fellowship, the MacArthur Fellowship, and the Man Booker International Prize. In addition, Africana Studies faculty members have successfully competed for fellowships and grants to support their research from such institutions as the Ford Foundation, Fulbright Program, National Endowment for the Arts, and National Science Foundation.
