The Ida B. Wells Award recognizes the graduating senior who best combines the highest standards of scholarship with a deep dedication and commitment to furthering the cause of justice and equality for all people.
ANNA JULIA COOPER AWARD
The Anna Julia Cooper Award recognizes the graduating senior with the best academic record in the concentration.
BROTHER AH AWARD
The Brother Ah Award recognizes the Best Essay by a graduating Africana Studies concentrator.
CHARLES H. NICHOLS AWARD
The Charles H. Nichols Award honors an Africana Studies concentrator who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the Department and the University.
ETHEL ROBINSON AWARD
The Ethel Robinson Award, named in honor of the first African American woman graduate of Brown University, celebrates the best creative capstone project. This award is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice.
WILLIAM EDWARD BURGHART DU BOIS AWARD
The W. E. B. Du Bois Award recognizes the graduating senior who has written the best honors thesis in the Department.
RHETT S. JONES AWARD
Awarded for outstanding contributions to institution building in the area of research and scholarship.
ALEXIS PRUSSACK LEGACY AWARD
Awarded for outstanding contributions to institution building in the area of production and stage management.
BENNY SATO AMBUSH AWARD
Awarded for outstanding contributions to institution building in the area of directing.
JOHN LUCAS AWARD FUND
Awarded for outstanding contributions to institution partnership building in the area of technical artistry and support. Conferred in honor of Barbara Reo and the students of TA3.
