Areas of Interest: Broadly speaking, I am interested in population control policies in Latin America and their ensuing effects on ethnic minorities. Specifically, I seek to explore the ways in which impoverished indigenous women are incorporated or silenced in the greater discourse of managing their bodies. Currently, I am looking at the sociopolitical and economic exclusion or inclusion of this marginalized community in Peru and how they negotiate with the local and the state apparatus to secure maternal health resources.
