Visiting Scholar in Archaeology and the Ancient World (2016-2018)

I have specialised in the application of physico-chemical, mineralogical and petrographic techniques to the study of archaeological ceramics, with a specific interest in coarse and cooking wares. I have a broad interest in the theoretical foundations of archaeometry and in the use of ethnoarchaeological approaches. My research deals also with Late Antique Archaeology in the Mediterranean and particularly in island systems.

I am currently the director of the Archaeological and Archaeometrical Research Unit, of the University of Barcelona, and of several projects on Late Roman ceramics, as well as scientific director of archaeological excavations in the Balearics, particularly in the Roman and Late Antique city of Pollentia, and the early Christian complexes of Son Peretó and Illa del Rei.
