Student Handbook - Overview
The major requirement for the Ph.D. degree is the doctoral thesis based on the student's original research that significantly contributes to knowledge and is of sufficient quality to merit publication in peer-reviewed journals. Attainment of the Ph.D. degree normally requires approximately five years. Beyond seven years, re-application to the Graduate School for permission to continue is required each semester. General requirements of the Graduate School are listed in the Catalogue of the University. Additional requirements for the Ph.D. are specified below.
